Seattle Sounders vs. Colorado Rapids

My first game at Qwest Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Sounders FC. This is the inaugural season for the Major League Soccer team, and it has been an exciting one. Amazing game! Sounders 3-0.

Pagliacci's

Pagliacci Pizza, a Seattle institution established in 1979 by a couple Italian brothers. New Yorker's have compared it to their own style of pizza, but it's definitely no ordinary pie. With many gourmet choices to choose from (my favorite is the AGOG Primo), Pagliacci's has something for everyone. This picture was taken at their Bellevue location. A vintage Vespa 150 parked outside, with the words "Please Touch". Next time you are in the Seattle area, definitely give Paggliaci's a ring when you are craving a pie, and let me know what you think. Ciao!

Evergreen Point Floating Bridge

The Monday morning commute, not bad since I have seen much worse. It may have been that I actually didn't get to take this picture until 10 AM this morning, but as I am a mother of 2 there tends to be distractions and I usually always run a bit late. This bridge is travelled daily by many commuters travelling from Seattle to the Eastside (Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, etc.) and vice versa, over Lake Washington. This picture was taken, looking towards Seattle, where you can see the University of Washington in the distance..
Officially titled the "Governor Albert D. Rosellini Bridge", the Evergreen Point Floating bridge was built in 1962 and officially opened on August 28, 1963 (coincidentally the same day as Martin Luther King Jr. gave his "I Have a Dream" speech).

Chihuly @ Lincoln Square

Dale Chihuly is a famous artist from Seattle, and renown all over the world. He has done many glass installations all over the Puget Sound area, including this one, called the "Lincoln Square End of the Day Chandelier". This massive chandelier is dedicated to the Seniors Making Art program. Dale Chihuly descibes the Seniors Making Art progam as a "designed to engage seniors in something meaningful that they can do for the rest of their lives. Anyone can make art as long as one has imagination and life experiences to draw on. Making art is not about craftsmanshio, it has to do with feelings and memories and seniors have an abundance of both." You can find this art piece at Lincoln Square, Bellevue, Wa, across the streets from both Bellevue Square shopping center and Bellevue Place. All three locations have wonderful shopping, fabulous restaurants, bowling, billiards and a cinema.

Crashing Waves at the Seattle Aquarium

In 2007 the Seattle Aquarium did a $41.5 million expansion, which included the creation of the Ackerley Foundation Puget Sound Great Hall and Alaskan Way entrance, 2 new exhibits: Window on Washington Waters & Crashing Waves. They added a 2,625 square foot gift store, and the Seattle Aquarium Café. The picture above was taken from the Ackerley Foundation Puget Sound Great Hall. I chose to publish it in black and white, but I suggest seeing it in person to see the amazing hues that it exudes.

Maltby Cafe

Just Northeast of Seattle, you will find the historic district of Snohomish. 150 years old, Snohomish is great place to find antiques and the Malty Cafe. The Maltby Cafe is an award winning cafe, including being voted the "Best Breakfast Spot in Town" by Seattle Metropolitan Magazine. Although I did not part take in their breakfast offerings, I did enjoy a huge Monterey Turkey Club accompanied by some amazing "Home Fries" which were basically a homemade chip. The cafe definitely has it's charm inside and out. Covered in old gas signs on its exterior, with an old country cafe feel inside. This place did not disappoint, and I encourage anyone visiting Seattle to make a special trip to Snohomish and the Maltby for some great food.

Husky Ice Cream & Deli

I don't remember how I heard about Husky Ice Cream and Deli. I just knew that they were known for their in-house handmade ice cream. It was warm this past Saturday, and I thought it would be fun to take the kids to West Seattle, grab a bite to eat and head over to Alki Beach. We found the deli after getting a bit lost (I forgot the directions). After having an amazing sandwich and even a more amazing ice cream cone, I will now have to make a more frequent trip from Redmond to West Seattle. Definitely worth the gas to get there!
